The epicenter of the problem tends to be at social media networks—specifically Twitter, YouTube and Facebook —where Russian bots, fake news, creepy ad tracking, political polarization, sketchy videos and oh so many internet trolls can be found.Big Tech can’t keep us safe online, but several smaller-scale services and apps are creating safe spaces, where humans filter content and help us avoid mindless engagement and inappropriate images.

“Content that goes viral on Facebook is not necessarily what you need to know or is interesting or valuable to you, but it is the most engaging, so it keeps you on the platform,” Aviv Junno, Neverthink’s CEO and co-founder says.
